What’s happened this week:

• Barclays launched pingit, a peer to peer money transfer servicefor mobile devices, downloaded 20,000 times in the first two days.
•  Important as the banks seek to avoid becoming the ‘dumb pipes of mobile money’.
• Twitter launched a self service ad platform allowing many more brands to get involved with real time promotion.
•  Google have again upped their commitment to Google+ by adding sharing features to their home page.

What we have learned:

• eBay makes a sale via a smart phone every second.
• By 2016 there will be 10bn smart phones worldwide.
• Facebook drives 10x the volume of video shares as Twitter as online video viewing accelerates.
