- *Facebook launched ‘Actions’ expanding the Open Graph with 60 partners, in what is probably the highest profile development to date in consumer facing semantic data services.
- Wikipedia was one of many sites going dark to protest against proposed US IP regulations (which are now on hold), illustrating how quickly groups can align and scale online.
- The European Union are proposing new data laws which include a right to be forgotten and punitive charges for mishandling data.
